New video I MUST share...

The SERIOUSLY guys have this youtube channel going where they've been posting little acoustic 'covers' they do... the series is called "2 Asians 1 song".  I've been watching them do this for a while now, and I've just come across one that is TOTALLY and UTTERLY my favorite, that I thought I should share it here... I mean, I think I actually like the Seriously version even better than the original Chris Brown version...

Enjoy~

Something to think about as we enter 2008

I don't know if anyone really cares about Asian American artists going anywhere in this country... but even the folks at New York Times noticed something odd about the fact that Asian Americans have yet to break into the music industry... The below article is actually from a while back, earlier this year, but as we close 2007 and enter into 2008, I wanted to share this with you all as a reminder of the way things are, and as just something to think about...

New York Times article, "Trying to Crack the Hot 100"

You know what? Asian Americans DEFINITELY have their own aesthetic and things that we are drawn to, and it's time we make it clear that we are here!!!! No more standing by like a wallflower. We don't need to try so hard to assimilate! Let's be fresh, innovative, exciting and fun in 2008! (whether you are Asian American, or not. heehee)

cheers and happy new year!

i love christmas...

christmas is soooooooooo my favorite time of the year...
and since woody and i are music producers, we get to produce our own christmas music... with the band that we produce of course hahhaha.

check out seriously's latest christmas offering... the all-time favorite christmas song, 'o holy night'... in a rocking-out "emo" version of it! (i am trying to figure out how to work this audio thing- for some reason it's not uploading the song here!!! any ideas why?)

in any case, we hope you enjoy the song- feel free to download it from seriously's myspace (
http://www.myspace.com/seriouslytheband) and put it on your ipod or just play it on your computer, or what not... or send it to friends to wish them a merry christmas~

Updates

hello hello hello----

it's been a long time. sorry i've been totally neglecting my xanga... been working on a million different things and just trying to get through each day... well well well... so how are all of you? i feel like i've been in this chaos theory music bubble, and unable to touch base with my frrrrrrrriends...

well lots have been happening over here at chaos theory music. first off- seriously, our little baby band- oh, for those of you who don't know, they're not real babies, i mean, i'm just calling them that bc they're really young- well, young from my perspective anyway... no, DON'T ask how old i ammmmmmm...

anyway, these young guys have been performing non-stop around the LA and OC areas these past few months- it's been a true blessing that we have never had to really go out there to beg for gigs. that is truly a blessing- we have people supporting us left and right! some of the highlights include playing at Dodgers stadium back in september (or was it late august?), playing a really fun 17-year old's birthday party in diamond bar (the guys had soooooooo much fun with all the girls screaming their heads off in this backyard!), the Korean festival, the Harvest Moon Festival, Project Vienam's Gala, the Viet Model Project (which should be broadcasting on one of the Viet channels soon), as well as the VIBExpo in Fullerton, Radio Korea's stage in OC (which was not so fun... boohoo), and most recently, the 13 Minutes Magazine party in Hollywood in front of over a thousand people crowding into this club... the guys got to 'stroll' the red carpet, get interviewd etc...... yea, so glamour and fun is all good, but it has been HARD WORK and we are EXHAUSTED working every weekend on top of working/ going to school all week long...

the guys got to audition for a big commercial last week too (won't say which company- we're still waiting to hear back)... we're praying we'll get it- would be GREAT to see some Asian musicians on mainstream TV (yes, it's a MAJORLY mainstream company!), no?????

anyway, that's Seriously... woody's been hard at work doing various commercials and STILL working on a couple of documentary films... rosy rhee's 'Same Same but Different' (very artsy, identity-oriented, spoken-word/performance piece-ish) and benson lee's 'Planet Bboy' (yes he's STILL working on it... can't wait to see the finished product!)... paulo martelli, our third artist on the roster, is still in Brazil (we're working on getting him out here for some concerts!) but he has been producing and touring with this amazing guitar concert series in Brazil...

and then there's the other part of our company which is the music licensing/publishing side... still working hard at bringing music onto our catalogue (know any AMAZING artists that would be interested in us representing their songs?), getting our website up (that part of the site is still in the works) and making some SALES!!!!!!!!!! cuz yea, it does, in the end, all come down to money... unfortunately, it takes a while to build up our assets (which we do have a lot of, but could always use more!)...

so in a nutshell, it has been CRAZY... a LOT of work... and for those of you who know, i have two kids who also demand my attention... my relationship with woody has become mostly business casual... he doesn't want me to report him for sexual harrassment in the office hahahhahahahah :)

ok, talk to you soon... i know this isn't quite how blogs work, my blogging muscles are really tight... need to write some more, more frequently, hope this wasn't too boring a read for ya...

ciao-
